Laura Meyer, MS
Laura Meyer provides individual and group counseling that incorporates Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MSBR) strategies. Her work emphasizes therapeutic alternatives to medication.
She is creator of Samsara Meditation Therapy, and founded Walden Workshops to promote self-exploration as a means of working with mental struggle. Vipassana Meditation also influences her clinical practice. She is an Auricular Acupuncture Specialist to support the process of substance and medication withdrawal.
Laura has a Masters in Counseling and a foundation in cognitive therapy. She has maintained a clinical practice for 12 years, and completed MBSR training with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli in 2008. She is an Instructor at the University of Virginia Mindfulness Center. She conducts an ongoing Mindful Recovery group, and has extensive counseling experience at Addiction Recovery Services in Charlottesville, offering mindfulness as a compliment to medically-assisted patients recovering from substance use and mental health disorders.
